One of the things I hear time and time again is how well the Caterpillar Lounge and the Kowloon Room play off of each other. If only people knew how much we struggled with how different they were: the former modeled after a space-aged Tokyo sake bar, dressed in white and trimmed with chrome; the other, black with the classic Hong Kong gold and red carvings. As it turned out, they’ve become the perfect Yin/Yang experience.The Caterpillar Lounge works perfectly either as a ‘meet and greet’ or as an after dinner retreat. You may start an evening off on the plush lounge chairs sampling fabulous sakes and cheeses, or polish off the night with robust cognacs and desserts. It’s in the Kowloon Room where the main dining event takes place. This is where I take the spice of my birth country and fuse it with the ingredients I grew to love in Minnesota. Even discerning critics and guests from both coasts love Azia, because they know it’s one of a kind.
